Our Lady of Mercy School’s Science Olympiad Team, made up of 19 sixth, seventh and eighth graders, placed second in the middle school division at the Rhode Island State Science Olympiad Competition at Rhode Island College on Saturday, April 9. OLM students earned four gold medals and three bronze, and out of 24 teams, OLM finished in the top 10 or higher in 19 of the 22 events. Points were awarded based on the teams’ finish in each of the 22 events. Gold Medal Winners include: Grace Pelletier, Tim Moren, Maddie Knudson, Ishita Rai, Ben Kane, Collin Caldwell and Casey McQuesten. Bronze Medal Winners include: Susie Mueller, Tim Moren, Ben Kane, Brooke Mattos, Casey McQuesten and Mike Hanlon. Top 5 Finishes: Casey McQuesten, Maddie Knudson, Mae Legare, Ishita Rai, Miguel Torres and Collin Caldwell. The other team members were: Elliana Spagnolo, Elyse Yanusas, Tori Cannon, Kelly Gallagher, Bryan Hong, Eric Tanionos and Colin Butera.
