After Mass on May 21, St. Francis of Assisi Pastor Father Adam Young presented a special plaque to recognize the works of charity being done by the Peace Dale Dinner Table.

The initiative commemorates the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Diocese of Providence in which members of the diocesan family are performing new or increased volunteer efforts during the celebration year. The Peace Dale Dinner Table is an ecumenical endeavor between two churches, St. Francis of Assisi Parish and the Peace Dale Congregational Church.

Members of the PDCC were in attendance with their pastor, Fred Evenson. Seventy volunteers from each church prepare close to 400 meals each week. Since January 2021, more than 20,000 free meals have been distributed or delivered to neighbors in need in South Kingstown and Narragansett.
