Pennies for Haiti

St. Luke’s School in Barrington has an ongoing service ministry called Pennies for Haiti. The school has jars placed throughout the school for donations and normally raises about $750 per year to help St. Anne’s School in Chardonniere, Haiti which they have adopted as their sister school. During Catholic Schools Week, St. Luke’s celebrated Hope for Haiti Day where the entire school wore red, offered special prayers and went to each class to explain the mission and raise money. As a result, they have collected $1,526. Sister Rita Larivee of the Sisters of St. Anne in Montreal, visited and accepted the donation at an all-school assembly. The check was presented by Student Council Officers who serve on the Pennies for Haiti Ministry. The money will be used to help rebuild the school which sustained millions of dollars in damage in an August 2021 earthquake.
