EAST GREENWICH — In what meteorologists are calling a “historic superbomb,” the Blizzard of ’26 has rewritten the record books, leaving no community in the Ocean State untouched. The storm officially eclipsed the legendary Blizzard of ’78, burying the region under a relentless onslaught of snow and hurricane-force wind gusts.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), T.F. Green International Airport recorded a staggering 37.9 inches of snowfall as of Monday evening, obliterating the previous single-storm record of 28.6 inches.
