Robert L. Kenney

BEDFORD, Mass. — Robert L. Kenney, 85, of Bedford, died on March 22, 2019, at the E.N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford.

Born in Newton, Massachusetts on February 19, 1934, he was the son of the late Albert and Esther (Leach) Kenney.

Kenney was raised in Rockland and was a graduate of Rockland High School Class of 1952. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1953 to 1955. After he was honorably discharged, he attended Boston College where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics.

He worked for IBM for 23 years as an IT Program Manager for the New England Region and lived in Bedford for nearly 50 years where he became involved in many activities in the town. He was a referee for IAABO Basketball League for 25 years, a member of the Bedford Finance Committee, an Emerson Hospital volunteer and an active member of St. Michael Parish.

He was the devoted husband of Alba (Spinale) Kenney, loving father of four children, Elaina Kenney, Diana Anjoorian and her husband Peter, Msgr. Albert Kenney, Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia for the Diocese of Providence and Michael Kenney and his wife Cindy, cherished grandfather of Jake, John, Emmajean, Michaela, Katherine and Grace. Brother of Carol Brady and the late Albert A. Kenney and Esther Golemme.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday, March 28 in St. Michael Church, Bedford.
