Sister Anne Harrington

WAKEFIELD — Sister Anne Harrington (Sister Maura), 95, formally of South Winds in Narragansett died peacefully on February 3, 2022, at Bayview at Scalabrini. Sister was born in Castletown, Cork, Ireland, the daughter of James Harrington and Margaret (Lowney) Harrington. She was the sister of the late Mary and Agnes Harrington and is survived by a nephew and two nieces.
She entered the Sisters of the Cross and Passion in 1949 and was professed in 1951. That same year she moved to the United States. Here, she taught in schools staffed by her Community in Connecticut and Rhode Island. She especially enjoyed library work both at Prout Memorial High and the University of Rhode Island. Following her retirement, she became a Eucharistic Minister serving the local parish and hospital.
Sister Anne was always a quiet, humble and prayerful member of the community. She leaves a powerful legacy to all that knew her.
Visitation was on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, followed by a Mass of Christian burial on February 8, in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High St., Wakefield, with burial in St. Francis Cemetery, Peace Dale.
