Sister Germaine Fagnant, 103

MANCHESTER, NH —?Presentation of Mary Sister Germaine Fagnant, 103, of the Sisters of the presentation, died December 16 at the St. Joseph Residence.

Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Hermas and Honorine (Fontaine) Fagnant.

Sister Fagnant entered the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary in Canada in 1925, made her first profession of vows in 1927 and her final profession in 1932. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Rivier College, Nashua, NH.

She ministered as a teacher in several schools in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, as well as in the Diocese of Providence at Christ the King School, West?Warwick, from 1946 to 1952; St. Anne School, Woonsocket, from 1953-1961; Notre Dame School, West Warwick, from 1961 to 1967; and St. John the Baptist School, West Warwick, from 1978-1998. She also served as the superior at the former Christ the King Convent, West Warwick, from 1946 to 1952.

Sister Fagnant retired to the Marie Rivier Community in Hudson, NH in 1998, and transferred to Manchester in 2006.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews, and was the sister of the late Msgr. Donat J. Fagnant, Joseph, Hermile and Antoinette Fagnant.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated December 20 in the Resurrection Chapel, Manchester. Burial was in Presentation of Mary Cemetery, Hudson, NH.
