Sister Mary Del Bonis, M.P.F.

MORRISTOWN, N.J. — After a long and fruitful life, Sister Mary Del Bonis, M.P.F, 106, died on Wednesday, July 3, 2019, in the St. Joseph Hall Infirmary at Villa Walsh, Morristown, New Jersey.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, July 6, in the St. Lucy Chapel. Interment was in the Ave Maria Cemetery at Villa Walsh.

Born in Cranston in 1912, Sister Mary entered the Religious Teachers Filippini in 1934. She received the habit in 1935 and made her religious profession in 1938.

Sister Mary served the community as an elementary school teacher for 43 years. She taught in the following schools: St. Mary of the Lake in Watkins Glen, N.Y.; St. James and St. Joachim, Trenton, N.J.; Our Lady of Sorrows, Jersey City, N.J.; Our Lady of Libera, West New York, NJ..; Our Lady of Mt. Virgin, Garfield, N.J.; St. Joseph, Hammonton, N.J.; Holy Family, Nutley, N.J.; Purification of the BVM, Ellwood City, Pa.; St. Nicholas of Tolentine, Philadelphia, Pa.; Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Bristol, R.I.; Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Meriden, Conn.; St. Pius X, Westerly, R.I.; and St. Mary, Cranston, R.I.; and served as pastoral minister in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Bristol, R.I.

In 2001 Sister Mary retired in residence at the motherhouse. In 2012, she was admitted to the St. Joseph Hall Infirmary where she spent her last years in prayer and Adoration and was an inspiration to all.
