Nominate an individual/group for Diocese of Providence 150 Acts of Charity
PROVIDENCE — Bishop Thomas J. Tobin has launched a diocesan initiative to recognize 150 unsung individuals/groups from among the diocesan family who will perform new or increased volunteer efforts in diocesan parishes, Catholic schools and organizations or in their wider communities during the Diocese of Providence’s celebration of its 150th anniversary. Those who are selected for the honor will receive a personalized plaque with the diocesan logo of the 150th anniversary celebration. The motto for the sesquicentennial: “The Lord has done great things for us, we are filled with joy,” will also be inscribed on each plaque. Recognition forms are now available on the diocesan website at https://dioceseofprovidence.org/150-acts-of-charity for anyone wishing to recognize an individual or group. Awards will be bestowed on individuals and groups throughout the 150th anniversary celebration, which concludes with a Mass at the Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul on June 26, 2022.

Haunted Labyrinth to benefit Rejoice in Hope Youth Center

Covid-19, Youth and Mental Health
PROVIDENCE — St. Augustine Knights of Columbus Council #10557 will host a talk entitled, “Covid-19, Youth and Mental Health,” presented by Dr. Daniel Harrop, medical director associate of Anthem HealthCare and past president of the RI Catholic Medical Society. The evening will take place on Oct. 13, 7 p.m., at St. Augustine Church, 639 Mt. St. Francis Xavier Parish plans Mass and Candlelight Procession
EAST PROVIDENCE — On Wednesday, Oct. 13, there will be a Mass at 6 p.m. [bilingual] at St. Francis Xavier Parish. Following the Mass, there will be a candlelight procession through the streets of East Providence in honor of Our Lady of Fatima. All are welcome to join in the procession and prayer for the intercession of Our Lady of Fatima.
Evening honoring Our Lady of Fatima
WEST WARWICK — St. John the Baptist Church will host an evening honoring Our Lady of Fatima with prayer of the Rosary on Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2021 at 6:30 p.m., followed by the presentation of roses to the Blessed Mother. Mario Marchese will be available to provide information on America Needs Fatima and Fatima Rosary Prayer Groups.
St. Philip to host Holy Hour for the Unborn
GREENVILLE — The Respect Life Ministry at Saint Philip Church will host a Holy Hour for the unborn, on Thursday, Oct. 14, 7 p.m., at Saint Philip Parish, 622 Putnam Pike Greenville. All are welcome to join in the prayers for the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death. The holy hour will consist of adoration, prayers and the Rachel’s Rosary. Public Square Rosary to take place in Arctic
WEST WARWICK — All are invited to join in a Public Square Rosary on Saturday, Oct. 16, at noon, rain or shine, at the Majestic Gazebo in Arctic. This Public Square Rosary, sponsored by the America Needs Fatima organization in conjunction with the Legion of Mary of St. Anthony Parish, will be one of over 20,000 rallies that will take place all across the United States. Gloria Purvis to speak at Diocese of Providence 150th Anniversary event
PROVIDENCE — As part of the Diocese of Providence 150th Anniversary celebration, Gloria Purvis will visit McVinney Auditorium, on Saturday, Oct. 16 at 11 a.m., to speak on “Born and Unborn: The Integrity of the Human Person in The Womb and Society.” Purvis, a national pro-life speaker as well as a radio personality and Catholic commentator, will speak on confronting enduring evils such as abortion and racism. She will examine the reasons for and remedies to these evils in light of our faith. Prior to the presentation, all are welcome to attend the Human Life Guild Mass for Life at 9:30 a.m. in the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, Providence. Security will be provided. Walk for Life
WESTERLY — St. Pius X Church, 45 Elm St., will host the annual Walk for Life, on Sunday, Oct. 17, at noon. Gather at St. Pius X Church for a one-mile walk and brief prayer service at the Tomb of the Unborn at St. Sebastian’s Cemetery. For those unable to walk and/or would prefer to pray in silence, there will be Eucharistic Adoration at noon ending with Benediction. A Night of Music
WARREN — St. Thomas the Apostle Church will host a night of music on Saturday, Oct. 23, from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. Well-known singer and songwriter Gary James Farias will perform. The kitchen will be open selling sandwiches, pizza, favas with chourico and soft drinks. If you prefer you may bring your own food and beverages of your choice. Annual Snowflake Bazaar planned
COVENTRY — Saints John and Paul Parish will hold the 64th annual Snowflake Bazaar on Saturday, Oct. 23, from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 24, from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m., in the parish center, 341 South Main St. The event will include a variety of holiday booths featuring gifts, jewelry, knitted items, religious items, sports memorabilia and more. The event will also feature many raffles and themed baskets. Children may also have their photo taken with Santa, make arts and crafts and play games. The kitchen will also be open for breakfast and lunch.
Magnificat Prayer Breakfast

PROVIDENCE — Saint Agnes Church, 351 Branch Ave., will hold a Novena for three evenings in honor of Saint Jude on Sunday, Oct. 24, Monday, Oct. 25, and Tuesday, Oct. 26. Mass and Novena prayers will be offered at 6 p.m. The theme of the St. Jude Triduum is “The Law of Prayer is the Law of Belief.” The raffle drawings will follow Mass on the last evening of the St. Jude Triduum.
