Nominate an individual/group for Diocese of Providence 150 Acts of Charity
PROVIDENCE — Bishop Thomas J. Tobin has launched a diocesan initiative to recognize 150 unsung individuals/groups from among the diocesan family who will perform new or increased volunteer efforts in diocesan parishes, Catholic schools and organizations or in their wider communities during the Diocese of Providence’s celebration of its 150th anniversary. Those who are selected for the honor will receive a personalized plaque with the diocesan logo of the 150th anniversary celebration. The motto for the sesquicentennial: “The Lord has done great things for us, we are filled with joy,” will also be inscribed on each plaque. Recognition forms are now available on the diocesan website at https://dioceseofprovidence.org/150-acts-of-charity for anyone wishing to recognize an individual or group. Awards will be bestowed on individuals and groups throughout the 150th anniversary celebration, which concludes with a Mass at the Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul on June 26, 2022.

St. Francis Xavier Parish plans Mass and Candlelight Procession
EAST PROVIDENCE — On Wednesday, Oct. 13, there will be a Mass at 6 p.m. [bilingual] at St. Francis Xavier Parish. Following the Mass, there will be a candlelight procession through the streets of East Providence in honor of Our Lady of Fatima. Public Square Rosary to take place in Arctic

Gloria Purvis to speak at Diocese of Providence 150th Anniversary event
PROVIDENCE — As part of the Diocese of Providence 150th Anniversary celebration, Gloria Purvis will visit McVinney Auditorium, on Saturday, Oct. 16 at 11 a.m., to speak on “Born and Unborn: The Integrity of the Human Person in The Womb and Society.” Purvis, a national pro-life speaker as well as a radio personality and Catholic commentator, will speak on confronting enduring evils such as abortion and racism. She will examine the reasons for and remedies to these evils in light of our faith. Prior to the presentation, all are welcome to attend the Human Life Guild Mass for Life at 9:30 a.m. in the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, Providence. Security will be provided. Walk for Life
WESTERLY — St. Pius X Church, 45 Elm St., will host the annual Walk for Life, on Sunday, Oct. 17, at noon. Gather at St. Pius X Church for a one-mile walk and brief prayer service at the Tomb of the Unborn at St. Sebastian’s Cemetery. For those unable to walk and/or would prefer to pray in silence, there will be Eucharistic Adoration at noon ending with Benediction.
