Celebration in honor of Black History Month
PROVIDENCE — In honor of Black History Month the Office of Black Catholic Ministry for the Diocese of Providence and St. Patrick Church community will host a celebration in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The event, entitled “A Dream of Unity: One Nation Under God” will take place, Sunday, Feb. 16, at 7 p.m., St. Patrick Church, 244 Smith St. Refreshments will be served following the program. ‘The Church, the World, and Father Hesburgh: Legacy and Lessons’
PROVIDENCE — Providence College’s 2020 Randall Lecture will take place at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, in the Fiondella Great Room in the Ruane Center. Father Wilson Miscamble, C.S.C., this year’s Rev. Robert J. Randall Professor in Christian Culture, will deliver a lecture entitled “The Church, the World, and Father Hesburgh: Legacy and Lessons.” This event is free and open to the public.

Mardi Gras Comedy Night Supper
PROVIDENCE — St. Agnes Church, 351 Branch Ave., will hold its third annual Mardi Gras/Comedy Night on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 5:30 p.m. The event features John Perrotta and his Comedy Troupe and includes a pasta dinner and penny social. Day of Retreat in Spanish for Legion of Mary, family and friends
PROVIDENCE — The Legion of Mary will host a retreat in Spanish on Saturday, Feb. 22 from 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 538 Broadway. The retreat will be facilitated by Father Jonathan Romanoski, FSSP, a graduate of Franciscan University in Steubenville, Priest Fraternity of St. Peter. The retreat is free and open to all Spanish speaking parishioners and friends of the Legion. Please bring a bag lunch. Coffee and drinks will be provided. All-you-can-eat Pasta and Meatball Supper
MANVILLE — St. James Church, 33 Division St. will host an all-you-can-eat pasta and meatball supper on Saturday, Feb. 22, from 4 – 7 p.m., in Father Brindamour Hall. The meal includes salad, rolls, dessert and beverages. There will also be a raffle for a stainless steel over-the-range microwave oven (replacement installation is included). The snow date is Sunday, Feb. 23. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling the parish office at 766-1558. They will also be available at the door. The proceeds from this event will benefit parish social ministry programs.
Annual Tea Party at St. Elizabeth Church
BRISTOL — The Holy Rosary Sodality of St. Elizabeth Church, 577 Wood St., will sponsor their 5th Annual Tea Party on Saturday, Feb. 22, from 1 – 3 p.m., in the Tea Room, located in the parish auditorium next door to the church. Many kinds of hot tea will be available, along with mini-sandwiches and sweets, served by the “Tea Cup Girls.” There will be a “Hat Contest” (wearing hats is optional). 40 Days for Life Lenten Campaign
PROVIDENCE — The Lenten Campaign will begin on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 26 and conclude on Saturday, April 4. The diocese is asking parishes to adopt a day (7 a.m. / 7 p.m.) or individuals to adopt an hour for a peaceful and prayerful vigil at Planned Parenthood, Providence during the 40 Days of Lent. St. Brendan Parish plans Mardi Gras celebration

First Saturday Devotions to Our Lady

Rachel’s Vineyard Retreat Weekend
PROVIDENCE — There are four post-abortion retreats scheduled for 2020. The Spanish retreats will be held on March 20, 21, 22 and October 16, 17, 18 and the English retreats will be held on March 27, 28, 29 and October 23, 24, 25. First Saturday Mass honoring Our Lady
PROVIDENCE — A Mass will be held each First Saturday of the month to honor the Immaculate Heart of Mary at 9 a.m. at the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul. The Recitation of the Rosary and prayers to Our Lady will follow immediately after Mass. All are cordially invited.
Free Income Tax Preparation
PROVIDENCE — Amos House, a fully handicap-accessible agency at 460 Pine Street in Providence, prepares free income tax returns for those who earned $56,000 or less in 2019. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evening appointments from 4 p.m. on may be made through April 15 by calling 401-272-0220. New time for St. Jude Novena
PROVIDENCE — St. Agnes Church, 351 Branch Ave., has recently changed the St. Jude Novena time to noon on Tuesdays. The parish will resume the 6 p.m. time slot on Tuesday, March 10 after Daylight Saving Time begins.

Celebrate the reopening of The Museum of Family Prayer
NORTH EASTON, Mass. — The Museum of Family Prayer is restored and reopened following damage as a result of a fire in the chapel in December. Staff are ready to greet families and have special activities and fun food planned to celebrate the museum’s restoration. Come on in and share the power of family prayer through state of the art interactive, educational, reflective and immersive opportunities, museum exhibits, graphics and media content creating a lively, interactive and unique experience. Daily Rosary and Mass are held at the Museum chapel from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
