40 Days for Life Lenten Campaign
PROVIDENCE — The 40 Days for Life Spring Campaign begins on Ash Wednesday and runs through Sunday, April 13, with vigil hours every day at the public right-of-way outside the Planned Parenthood Providence abortion facility, 175 Broad St. The local campaign is coordinated by Rhode Island Right to Life and the diocesan Office of Life & Family Ministry. House of Mercy

Knights host baked fish dinners
PORTSMOUTH — The Knights of Columbus Council 3618 will offer baked fish dinners in the St. Barnabas social hall on Fridays March 7, 14, 21, and 28, 5 p.m. The menu includes clam chowder, baked Atlantic cod with hollandaise, coleslaw, rice or mashed potatoes, roll, dessert, water, soda, coffee or tea. A lobster salad dinner will also be offered. Take-out will be available for both meals. Ticket sales are in advance only and will be sold up to 2 p.m. on the Thursday before each dinner. Your Best Lent Ever: Purposeful Planning for A Fruitful Season
PROVIDENCE — St. Patrick Church, Smith Street, will host a Lenten discussion on March 10, 24 and 31, from 7 – 8:15 p.m. Father Joseph Brice and Christine Rubinstein will discuss an approach to Lent that is deliberately focused on becoming more spiritually fruitful; that is, more loving, joyful, peaceful and hopeful. Speakers will look at how to think from God’s point of view about the struggles and obstacles in our lives, and will offer some guidelines for translating your Lenten hopes into practical goals. There will be reflection questions, as well as opportunities for discussion.
Father Devaney to speak at St. Francis de Sales Lenten mission
NORTH KINGSTOWN — The parish of St. Francis de Sales, 381 School St., will host a Lenten mission Monday, March 10 and Tuesday, March 11, 6:45 p.m., and Wednesday March 12, 7 p.m. The mission is entitled “Christ the Divine Physician: Hope and Mercy in the Jubilee Year!” The mission will be led by Father John Maria Devaney, pastor of St. Pius V Parish in Providence. Experiencing thousands of hospital visits and encounters with the sick and dying, Father Devaney will share stories of mercy and hope as seen through the sacramental encounters of a priest with care of souls.
