Shrine of the Little Flower to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Beatification of St. Therese of Lisieux
NASONVILLE — On Saturday, April 29, the Shrine of the Little Flower will celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Beatification of St. Therese of Lisieux. The day’s devotions will include Bilingual (English / Spanish) Mass at 11 a.m., followed by an outdoor procession and luncheon. Visitors are encouraged to visit the Shrine grounds and the bookstore and gift shop. The Shrine’s museum will have tours available in both English and Spanish for our visitors. First Saturday Devotion
PROVIDENCE — Please join the St. Augustine Council of the Knights of Columbus, Men of St. Joseph and Relevant Radio for the final First Saturday Devotion of 2023, to be held on Saturday, May 6, at St. Augustine Church, 639 Mt. Pleasant Ave., beginning with the Sacrament of Reconciliation from 3:45 – 5 p.m.; the Rosary in music and song at 4 p.m.; private meditation on the mysteries of the Rosary at 4:30 p.m., and Mass at 5 p.m.
The Mystery of the Mass Revealed
PROVIDENCE — St. Pius V Church will host a video and discussion series entitled “The Mystery of the Mass Revealed.” Come and learn to view the Mass less as an experience of a “what” (ritual, religion, doctrine) and more an encounter with a “whom.” Workbooks available for purchase. There will be five group sessions Saturday mornings from 9 – 11 a.m. to take place on May 6, 13, 20, 27 and June 3. All are welcome to attend the 8 a.m. Mass and 8:30 a.m. Rosary. The discussion will take place in Caffe Lepanto in the St. Pius Church hall.
St. Anthony Church Holy Name Society to host May breakfast
NORTH PROVIDENCE — The Holy Name Society at St. Anthony Church will hold a May breakfast on Saturday, May 6 from 8 -11 a.m. and Sunday, May 7 from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m., in the St. Anthony Church Parish Center, 1413 Mineral Spring Ave. The breakfast will feature scrambled eggs, home fries, bacon, ham, baked beans, pancakes, breakfast pastries, orange juice, coffee and tea. St. Martha’s Parish to offer Marian Consecration
EAST PROVIDENCE — St. Martha’s Parish, 2595 Pawtucket Ave., will offer Marian Consecration with an orientation at the 4 p.m. Mass on May 6 and at the 9 a.m. Mass on May 7. Consecration booklets are free. Consecration will begin on May 14 and the Consecration day will take place at Mass, Saturday, June 17, the feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. West Bay Chorale plans Spring Concert
WARWICK — The West Bay Chorale is presenting their spring concert Earth and Sky, on Sunday, May 7 at 7 p.m., at St. Kevin Church, 333 Sandy Lane. Soloists for the concert include Jason Shealy, Tony Grelle and former artistic director for West Bay Chorale, Amanda Santo. Michael Goldberg joins the chorale on djembe. Music includes: “Sisi Ni Moja,” “The Heavens are Telling,” “Earth Song” and a reimagined version of “Morning Has Broken” by Shawn Kirschner. The performers will be framed by a beautiful installation of Peace Cranes created by WBC soprano, Ina Woolman. Continuing the mission of the chorale, donations at the door will be accepted to support Community MusicWorks in Providence. Holy Ghost Wine Tasting Fundraiser
TIVERTON — Church of the Holy Ghost, 316 Judson St., will host a wine tasting fundraiser on Saturday, May 20, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m., in Holy Family Hall (inside the church building.) Ticket includes wine, heavy hors d’oeuvres, desserts from local businesses, and one deluxe raffle ticket, plus live music. This is a 21+ only event.
