St. Augustine Knights, Men of St. Joseph to host First Devotion Saturday
PROVIDENCE — The St. Augustine Council Knights of Columbus, Men of St. Joseph and Relevant Radio will host The First Devotion on Saturday, May 7. The event will begin with confessions from 3:45 p.m. - 5 p.m., and feature the rosary in music and song at 4 p.m., private meditation on the mysteries of the rosary at 4:30 p.m., and Holy Mass at 5 p.m. The fifth and final devotion of 2022 will take place on June 4. St. Augustine Church is located at 20 Old Road, at the corner of Mt. Pleasant Avenue.
First Five Saturdays at Mount Carmel
BRISTOL — The Knights of Columbus and the Faith group at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish’s morning Masses are following the Blessed Mother’s direction (at Fatima) regarding the first five Saturdays devotion. This includes going to confession, receiving Holy Communion, praying the rosary and meditating on or around the Saturday of five consecutive months in order to receive additional graces necessary for salvation.
Knights of Columbus to hold pro-life rose sale
EAST BAY CHURCHES — Long-stem red roses will be available after Masses on Saturday & Sunday, May 8 and 9 — Mother’s Day weekend at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Saint Thomas, Saint Elizabeth, and other East Bay Churches. All proceeds from the sale will benefit Catholic, pro-life Mother of Life Pregnancy Center in Providence (motheroflife.org). The Center provides free pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, counseling, parenting classes, material goods for babies & moms, and much more. The suggested donation is $3 per rose. Also, you may pre-order 25-rose bundles online under the Events tab at motheroflife.org/donate.
Vocations Retreat for Middle School Boys
PROVIDENCE — The Office of Vocations will host a retreat for middle school boys on Saturday, May 7, from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., at the Seminary of Our Lady of Providence. The retreat will include a coffee an’ welcome with families, Holy Mass, games and food, tour of the seminary, talks on priesthood and vocations and an opportunity to meet the seminarians. 50th Anniversary of the Marian Movement of Priests
HARRISVILLE — On Sunday May 8, 3 p.m., the Shrine of the Little Flower, 35 Dion Drive, will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Marian Movement of Priests. WESTERLY — Mass with Prayers for Healing will take place at St. Pius X Church, 45 Elm St., at 2 p.m., on the second Sunday of the month (except June, July and August.) Grief support group for those who have lost a spouse
WESTERLY — If you are searching for hope and peace after the death of your spouse, St. Pius X Church invites you to participate in the Season of Hope support group. This is a safe and nurturing place for you to join with others who share your faith in Christ to give voice to your unique journey of grief, and to find comfort and spiritual renewal. NORTH PROVIDENCE —The Holy Name Society of St. Anthony Church will hold a May Breakfast on Saturday, May 7, from 8 – 11 a.m. in the parish center, 1413 Mineral Spring Ave. The breakfast will feature the following: scrambled eggs, home fries, bacon, ham, baked beans, breakfast pastries, juice, coffee and tea. May devotions to honor Mary at St. Agnes
PROVIDENCE — St. Agnes Church, 351 Branch Ave., will host May devotions to honor our Blessed Mother on Monday, May 9 at 7 p.m. The evening will include music, the Scriptural Rosary and will conclude with Exposition and Benediction.
Our Lady of Sorrows Bereavement Support meetings scheduled
PROVIDENCE —The Office of Life and Family ministry for the Diocese of Providence will offer the Our Lady of Sorrows Bereavement Support group at St. Pius V Church, 240 Eaton St. Our Lady of Sorrows will be offered over eight consecutive Thursday evenings 7-8:30 p.m., May 12 through June 30. The group will be facilitated by the St. Pius V Bereavement Ministry, which will provide a peaceful place to share your thoughts, feelings and experiences, while discussing topics about loss, grief, the healing process, and about the spiritual comfort of our Catholic faith. OLMC Bingo Night

EAST PROVIDENCE — Our Lady of Loreto Church, 346 Waterman Ave., will host a Spring Breakfast on Sunday, May 15, from 9 a.m. – noon. The menu will include scrambled eggs, ham, sausage, pancakes, home fries, beans, fruit cups, breakfast pastries, juice, coffee/tea. St. Gabriel’s Call comes to Holy Trinity
WOONSOCKET — Holy Trinity Parish, 1409 Park Ave., will open the doors of its St. Gabriel’s Call program on May 17. This diocesan program reaches out to assist women in crisis pregnancies and helps them say ‘Yes’ to life by providing them with material, emotional, counseling and spiritual support. If you know of a woman in a crisis pregnancy, you can call or refer her to 401-762-2849. Diocesan Office of Social Services will open an office at Holy Trinity Parish
WOONSOCKET — On Tuesday, May 17, the Diocesan Office of Social Services will open an office at Holy Trinity Parish, 1409 Park Ave. The office will be open two days a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, from 9- 2 p.m. (St. Gabriel’s Call will also be open Thursdays, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.) This office will offer the following services for all those in need: Keep The Heat On Fund – Heating assistance; SNAP (RI Food Stamps program) – Application help; referrals to food pantries and meal sites; utility, rental, and prescription assistance; furniture bank referrals; St. Gabriel’s Call. Also, people will have access to the following diocesan programs through this office: Immigration & Citizenship Services; CareBreaks Program – Apply for respite breaks for caregivers; Cabrini Fund – Apply for childcare assistance. St. Augustine School Alumni Mass

Masses for Recovery St. James Chapel
CHARLESTOWN — Ongoing monthly Masses for Recovery will be offered on the first Sunday of each month, now through June, 2 p.m. at St. James Chapel, 2079 Matunuck School House Road. These Masses, to which all are welcome, provide an opportunity for people to come together in faith to seek God’s loving kindness and grace with special prayer intentions dedicated for those in recovery. Hope and Cope at St. Barnabas Church
