Support group for those who have lost a spouse
WESTERLY — If you are searching for hope and peace after the death of your spouse, St. Pius X Church invites you to participate in the Season of Hope support group. This is a safe and nurturing place for you to join with others who share your faith in Christ to give voice to your unique journey of grief, and to find comfort and spiritual renewal. Bereavement Support meetings scheduled
PROVIDENCE — The Office of Life and Family Ministry for the Diocese of Providence will offer the Our Lady of Sorrows Bereavement Support group at St. Pius V Church, 240 Eaton St. Our Lady of Sorrows will be offered over eight consecutive Thursday evenings, 7-8:30 p.m., now through June 30. The group will be facilitated by the St. Pius V Bereavement Ministry, which will provide a peaceful place to share your thoughts, feelings and experiences, while discussing topics about loss, grief, the healing process, and about the spiritual comfort of our Catholic faith. This group is most appropriate for adults at least three months beyond their loss. There is no cost to attend. Preregistration is required. Please contact Pat Owen at 401-274-3854.
St. Augustine School Alumni Mass
PROVIDENCE — A St. Augustine School Alumni Mass will be held Saturday, May 21, at 5 p.m. at St. Augustine Church, 635 Mount Pleasant Ave., in celebration of the school’s 70th Anniversary. Gabriel’s Trumpet to host book signing for local author
COVENTRY — Paul F. Masses for Recovery at St. James Chapel
CHARLESTOWN — Ongoing monthly Masses for Recovery will be offered on the first Sunday of each month, now through June, 2 p.m., at St. James Chapel, 2079 Matunuck School House Road. These Masses, to which all are welcome, provide an opportunity for people to come together in faith to seek God’s loving kindness and grace with special prayer intentions dedicated for those in recovery. Discussion series for Catholic singles

Volunteer opportunities with Ignatian Volunteer Corps
PROVIDENCE — Ignatian Volunteer Corps (IVC) New England, a yearlong volunteer opportunity for women and men 50 years of age and better, is recruiting volunteers for the upcoming (September to June) year. Volunteers give two full days/week of service and commit to a monthly spiritual reflection program in the Jesuit tradition. Mary Mother of Mankind Church to honor police and first responders
NORTH PROVIDENCE — A ceremony will be held recognizing the law enforcement and first responders from the region as the community celebrates National Police Week, on Sunday, May 22, 10:30 a.m., at Mary Mother of Mankind Church, 25 Fourth St. Fire trucks and ambulances will be part of the ceremony, along with a color guard from the Rhode Island State Police.
Knights to hold annual ‘Kandi Drive’
PORTSMOUTH — The local Council 3618 of the Knight of Columbus will hold their annual Kandi (Tootsie Roll) Drive on Friday, June 3 from 4-8 p.m. and Saturday, June 4, from 9-3 p.m. in front of Clement’s Market, 2575 East Main Road. One hundred percent of the proceeds from this event go to the James L. Maher Center in Middletown, which fosters independence, opportunity, employment and social engagement for people with developmental and other disabilities through customized programs designed to meet their individual needs.

Yard Sale at St. Agnes
PROVIDENCE — St. Agnes Church, 351 Branch Ave., will host a parish yard sale on Saturday, June 11 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. (Rain date: Saturday, June 18) You can rent table space and whatever you sell is yours to keep. Sacred Heart Church to host Golf Tournament
WARWICK — Sacred Heart Church will hold a golf tournament on Monday, June 27, at Valley Country Club, beginning with a putting contest at 11 a.m., followed by lunch at 11:30 a.m. Lunch will consist of hot dogs, hamburgers (all grilled outside), chips, soda, and water. WARWICK — St. Francis Xavier Academy Alumnae Association will hold a homecoming on October 23, 2022, with 11 a.m. Mass at St. Timothy Church, followed immediately by lunch at the Crowne Plaza.
