Deacon Mark Gadoury to be ordained to the priesthood on June 4
PROVIDENCE — The Ordination of Deacon Mark Gadoury will take place on Saturday, June 4, 10 a.m., at the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, Providence. All are welcome. Volunteer opportunities with Ignatian Volunteer Corps
PROVIDENCE — Ignatian Volunteer Corps (IVC) New England, a yearlong volunteer opportunity for women and men 50 years of age and better, is recruiting volunteers for the upcoming (September to June) year. Volunteers give two full days/week of service and commit to a monthly spiritual reflection program in the Jesuit tradition. IVC works with nonprofits in the Boston/Worcester/Providence areas that address problems of homelessness, education, immigration and more. Family festival planned
FREETOWN, Mass. — St. John Neumann Church will hold a family festival from May 27-30. Knights to hold annual ‘Kandi Drive’
PORTSMOUTH — The local Council 3618 of the Knight of Columbus will hold their annual Kandi (Tootsie Roll) Drive on Friday, June 3 from 4-8 p.m. and Saturday, June 4, from 9-3 p.m. in front of Clement’s Market, 2575 East Main Road. One hundred percent of the proceeds from this event go to the James L. Maher Center in Middletown, which fosters independence, opportunity, employment and social engagement for people with developmental and other disabilities through customized programs designed to meet their individual needs.
First Saturday Devotion

Pentecost Sunday Taize Service scheduled
EAST FREETOWN, Mass. — St. John Neumann Church will hold a Pentecost Sunday Taize Service on Sunday, June 5, at 7 p.m. The theme is “Enkindle in us the fire of your love…every flame, every color, a gift.” This service is a combination of songs, reflections and readings. A reception will follow the service, in Neumann Hall. The church is located on Route 18 – 157 Middleboro Road in East Freetown, Mass. Take Chace Road exit off Route 140.
Yard Sale at St. Agnes
PROVIDENCE — St. Agnes Church, 351 Branch Ave., will host a parish yard sale on Saturday, June 11 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. (Rain date: Saturday, June 18) You can rent table space and whatever you sell is yours to keep. The parish will provide the tables, and you bring items to sell. Call the rectory at 401-861-7265 to reserve your tables now. The deadline to reserve tables is Monday, June 6. The kitchen and grill will be open for hamburgers and hot dogs on the day of the yard sale. All are welcome.
Feast celebration at Sacred Heart Church
EAST PROVIDENCE — Sacred Heart Church will host its annual feast on the weekend of June 10 and 11 from 6 - 10 p.m., and June 12, from 1 – 4 p.m. There will be a religious procession following the 11:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday, June 12. A variety of Portuguese and American foods and Malassadas will be sold along with games and raffles. There will be indoor and outdoor seating available with a DJ outside on Friday and Saturday.

Sacred Heart Church to host Golf Tournament
WARWICK — Sacred Heart Church, West Warwick, will hold a golf tournament on Monday, June 27, at Valley Country Club, 251 New London Ave, Warwick, beginning with a putting contest at 11 a.m., followed by lunch at 11:30 a.m. Lunch will consist of hot dogs, hamburgers (all grilled outside), chips, soda and water. St. Francis Xavier Academy Homecoming
WARWICK — St. Francis Xavier Academy Alumnae Association will hold a homecoming on October 23, 2022, with 11 a.m. Mass at St. Timothy Church, followed immediately by lunch at the Crowne Plaza. This year, due to prior Covid restrictions, the classes of 1970, 1971 and 1972 will be honored. Gold rosaries are blessed and distributed to graduates during Mass.
