Ignatian Volunteer Corps needs your help
PROVIDENCE — The Ignatian Volunteer Corps is currently seeking volunteers age 50 and older to start in the fall of 2021. Each volunteer commits to serve one to two days per week for 10 months at an agency working with individuals struggling with poverty and marginalization. Volunteers also engage in monthly opportunities for spiritual growth in the Jesuit tradition. Placement sites are located in the Providence, Worcester and Boston areas. Capuchin Sister, Rhode Island native, to speak on her special devotion to St. Joseph
NARRAGANSETT — All are invited to visit St. Thomas More Church at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, July 23 when Sister Christina, a Capuchin Sister of Nazareth from Williamsport, Pennsylvania, will speak about St. Joseph and share her devotion during this year dedicated to him. Mass at Holy Name to be celebrated in the Dominican Rite; Friars to preach on Mission in Kenya
PROVIDENCE — On July 25 at Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, 99 Camp St., the 7:30 a.m. and the 11 a.m. Masses will be celebrated in the Dominican Rite by Father Antoninus Samy, O.P., of Providence College. Father Samy will preach a mission appeal on behalf of the Dominican Friars mission in East Africa at the parish during the weekend of July 24 – 25. He will speak about the good work of the Dominican friars who serve in the mission, where they are engaged in the work of evangelization and faith development in the poor and underserved areas of Kenya severely impacted by the pandemic. Masses for Recovery St. Barnabas
PORTSMOUTH— The next Mass for Recovery will be offered on Sunday, July 25, 5 p.m., in the chapel meeting room, under the chapel, at St. Barnabas Church, 1697 E. Main Road. It will also be streamed on youtube at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXV1QfZiqUk2zC1-44UBgRQ. These Masses, to which all are welcome, provide an opportunity for people to come together in faith to seek God’s loving kindness and grace with special prayer intentions dedicated for those in recovery. If you or loved ones struggle with alcohol, drugs, addictions, mental distress, or support folks who suffer from the effects of these issues, you are encouraged to attend. Afternoon of Music at St. Thomas the Apostle Church
WARREN — St. Thomas the Apostle Church on Metacom Ave., will hold its last afternoon of music on August 1. Gary James Farias will perform outside from 1-4 p.m. Admission is free. Sandwiches, malassadas and beverages will be available for purchase. A representative of Paparazzi jewelry will also be present with a display of items for purchase.

St. Anthony Parish to hold annual feast
WEST WARWICK — St. Anthony Parish in West Warwick will host their annual feast on August 13, 14 and 15. The feast will begin Friday, Aug. 13 at 11 a.m. with the sale of fish and chips, with normal activities beginning at 5 p.m. The feast will open on Saturday, Aug. 14, at 5 p.m. On Sunday, Aug. 15, malassadas will be sold at 10 a.m., Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., and the procession will leave the parish grounds at 2 p.m. A variety of Portuguese and American food will be sold. Summer Bazaar at Jesus Saviour Church
NEWPORT — Jesus Saviour Church, 1 Vernon Ave., will host a summer bazaar from August 12 – 14, from 5 – 11 p.m. each evening. The bazaar will feature major raffles, bingo, pull tabs and booths, assorted games and white elephant. Homemade fava, chourico sandwiches and homemade pastries will be available for purchase.
