Hope and Cope support group to meet
PORTSMOUTH — The St. Matthias Ministry Hope and Cope Support Group will meet on Sunday, August 22, from 5 - 6 p.m. in the chapel meeting room, under the chapel, at St. Barnabas Church, 1697 E. Main Road. If you know someone who is supporting a loved one or friend in need of recovery or currently in recovery yourself, then this group is for you. This program is free and provides a wonderful focus on Catholic Spirituality to support recovery. No registration is required. Warwick Parishes form Flame of Love Prayer Group
WARWICK — Saint Timothy and Saint Rita Parishes have formed a Flame of Love of the Immaculate Heart of Mary prayer group, meeting on the first and third Wednesdays of the month in the Monsignor Carlin Center at Saint Timothy Church, 1799 Warwick Ave. The meeting begins at 1 p.m. New members are always welcome. Ignatian Volunteer Corps needs your help
PROVIDENCE — The Ignatian Volunteer Corps is currently seeking volunteers age 50 and older to start in the fall of 2021. Each volunteer commits to serve one to two days per week for 10 months at an agency working with individuals struggling with poverty and marginalization. Volunteers also engage in monthly opportunities for spiritual growth in the Jesuit tradition. Placement sites are located in the Providence, Worcester and Boston areas. St. Bartholomew Church plans Summer Festival
PROVIDENCE — St. Bartholomew Church, 305 Laurel Hill Ave., will hold its 53rd annual Summer Festival on Saturday, Aug. 7, from 3 - 8 p.m., and Sunday, Aug. 8 from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. The festival will feature Italian, American and Spanish foods. Worship Night to benefit young woman to serve as Franciscan Sister of the Renewal
PROVIDENCE — All are invited to attend a Worship Night to benefit Emily Cuellar, youth leader from St. Patrick Church, who will be joining religious life to serve as a Franciscan Sister of the Renewal, (CFR). The event will be held on Friday, Aug. 13, 7:30 p.m. at Bishop McVinney Auditorium. Summer Bazaar at Jesus Saviour Church
NEWPORT — Jesus Saviour Church, 1 Vernon Ave., will host a summer bazaar from August 12 – 14, from 5 – 11 p.m. each evening. The bazaar will feature major raffles, bingo, pull tabs and booths, assorted games and white elephant. Homemade fava, chourico sandwiches and homemade pastries will be available for purchase. Admission is free.

St. Anthony Parish to hold annual feast
WEST WARWICK — St. Anthony Parish in West Warwick will host their annual feast on August 13, 14 and 15. The feast will begin Friday, Aug. 13 at 11 a.m. with the sale of fish and chips, with normal activities beginning at 5 p.m. The feast will open on Saturday, Aug. 14, at 5 p.m. On Sunday, Aug. 15, malassadas will be sold at 10 a.m.; Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m.; and the procession will leave the parish grounds at 2 p.m. A variety of Portuguese and American food will be sold. Shrine of the Little Flower to celebrate 98th Anniversary of its foundation
BURRILLVILLE —The Shrine of the Little Flower will celebrate the 98th Anniversary of its foundation on Sunday, Aug. 15, beginning at 10 a.m. with praying the rosary and Mass immediately following. The day’s events will include a coffee hour, praying the Scala Sancta devotion, self-guided tours of the Shrine grounds and exposition of the Relic of St. Thérèse. The Shrine Gift Shop will also be open and holding an “Any Donation Accepted” sale. The Shrine is located at 35 Dion Drive in the Nasonville section of Burrillville. Emmaus Ministry for Grieving Parents to offer Virtual Retreats
PROVIDENCE — The Emmaus Ministry for Grieving Parents of Rhode Island will host a virtual one-hour midweek reflection available on Zoom, on August 25, from 8 – 9 p.m. This retreat is for grieving parents whose children of any age have died by any cause, no matter how long ago. Losing a child under any circumstances is horrendous. Focusing on the spirituality of the grieving process can help tremendously. Registration is required to receive the meeting ID and password.
