Warwick Parishes form prayer group
WARWICK — Saint Timothy and Saint Rita Parishes have formed a Flame of Love of the Immaculate Heart of Mary prayer group, meeting on the first and third Wednesdays of the month in the Monsignor Carlin Center at Saint Timothy Church, 1799 Warwick Ave. The meeting begins at 1 p.m. New members are always welcome. Ignatian Volunteer Corps needs your help
PROVIDENCE — The Ignatian Volunteer Corps is currently seeking volunteers age 50 and older to start in the fall of 2021. Each volunteer commits to serve one to two days per week for 10 months at an agency working with individuals struggling with poverty and marginalization. Volunteers also engage in monthly opportunities for spiritual growth in the Jesuit tradition. Placement sites are located in the Providence, Worcester and Boston areas. Hope and Cope support group to meet
PORTSMOUTH — The St. Matthias Ministry Hope and Cope Support Group will meet on Sunday, August 22, from 5 - 6 p.m. in the chapel meeting room, under the chapel, at St. Barnabas Church, 1697 E. Main Road. If you know someone who is supporting a loved one or friend in need of recovery or currently in recovery yourself, then this group is for you. This program is free and provides a wonderful focus on Catholic Spirituality to support recovery. No registration is required. Emmaus Ministry for Grieving Parents to offer virtual retreats
PROVIDENCE — The Emmaus Ministry for Grieving Parents of Rhode Island will host a virtual one-hour midweek reflection available on Zoom, on August 25, from 8 – 9 p.m. This retreat is for grieving parents whose children of any age have died by any cause, no matter how long ago. Losing a child under any circumstances is horrendous. Focusing on the spirituality of the grieving process can help tremendously. Registration is required to receive the meeting ID and password. A Night to Honor Mary
PROVIDENCE — The 150th anniversary celebration of the Diocese of Providence begins with A Night to Honor Mary on September 8, 6 p.m., in the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul. Beginning September 8, 2021, and lasting until June, 26, 2022, the Diocese of Providence will host an ongoing celebration of the sesquicentennial of its founding in February, 1872. Holy Hour for 20th anniversary of 9/11
EAST PROVIDENCE — In remembrance of the 20th anniversary of 9/11, a Holy Hour will be held at St. Martha’s Church, 2595 Pawtucket Ave., on Thursday, Sept. 9, 7 – 8:15 p.m. The evening will include exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, reflection on the history and prayer for the nation, holy rosary and chaplet of divine mercy prayer, benediction and enrollment in the Brown Scapular. Little Sisters to hold indoor yard sale
PAWTUCKET — The Little Sisters of the Poor Jeanne Jugan Residence, 964 Main St., will host an indoor yard sale on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 10-11, from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. The two-day sale will include furniture, home décor, jewelry, housewares and more. All proceeds will support the mission of the Little Sisters. Covid-19 prevention protocols will be in effect, including screening before entry and capacity restrictions. Face coverings are required. Polish Family Festival
CENTRAL FALLS — A Polish Family Festival will be held in the parking lot of St. Joseph’s Church, 391 High St., Friday, Sept. 10, from 6 p.m. – 12 a.m.; Saturday, Sept. 11, from 6 p.m. – 12 a.m.; and Sunday, Sept. 12, from 12 – 6 p.m. Polish Food will be available inside the parish center, located right across the street from the church.
