Providence College to Host Fall 2024 Rev. Robert J. Randall Lecture
PROVIDENCE — Providence College (PC) announced that its fall 2024 Rev. Robert J. Randall Lecture will be given by Francesca Aran Murphy, Ph.D., professor of systematic theology at the University of Notre Dame. This lecture will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at 4:30 pm in Aquinas Lounge on the PC campus. The conference is free and open to the public. She is currently editing a series for Bloomsbury Academic called Illuminating Modernity. This conference is being held as part of PC’s Rev. Robert J. Randall Distinguished Professorship, which recognizes a scholar whose work concentrates on an understanding of culture that embodies a Christian view of human achievement. The selected individual contributes to undergraduate instruction in the theology, philosophy, history, literature, or the social sciences departments by participating in the Honors Program, directing student research, and delivering public lectures.

GREENVILLE — There will be a free Lourdes Virtual Pilgrimage Experience St. Philip Parish, 622 Putnam Pike, Saturday, Oct. 19, 7 p.m. This live interaction experience will be guided by Our Lady of Lourdes Hospitality, North American Volunteers, the first Lourdes Hospitality of the Americas. Not everyone can travel to Lourdes, but the Virtual Pilgrimage can make it possible to experience this same peace and healing.
Concert at the Shrine of the Little Flower
NASONVILLE — The Shrine of the Little Flower will host Catholic Contemporary Singer Missy Ducharme on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 6 - 8 p.m. for a benefit concert featuring music from her new collection “In His image.” The concert is free but donations to support families with children at Boston Children’s Hospital and the Musicians on-Call program, the nation’s largest provider of volunteer musicians visiting hospitals, are gratefully accepted. COVENTRY — SS. John & Paul Parish will host a snowflake bazaar on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 20, from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m., at the SS. John & Paul Parish Center, 341 South Main St. This event offers a wide variety of holiday booths with items for purchase including gifts, knitted articles, religious items, sports memorabilia, baked goods, pastries and much more. BARRINGTON — Holy Angels Parish will go retro and host a 1970s flashback during Take-Out Thursday, its final charity food sale of the year, on October 24. Sacred Heart Bazaar
WEST WARWICK — The annual Sacred Heart Church Bazaar will be held at the parish, 820 Providence St., on Friday, Oct. 25, from noon to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 26, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The event will feature handmade trees, wreaths and many other crafts, a penny social with 35 prizes, roll-ups for children, a special raffle with televisions, bikes, and 12 large baskets. Other booths include jewelry, home goods, a wine booth and Mrs. Claus’ Attic. Pastry booths will have homemade Italian cakes and pastry with a large selection of cookie trays. Kitchen is open throughout the event with hot dogs, grinders, grilled cheese sandwiches, sausage and peppers, sloppy Joes, French fries and hot and cold beverages.

BRISTOL — The Holy Rosary Sodality will sponsor its Harvest Bazaar on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., in the parish auditorium, 577 Wood St. The event will feature Bingo , a grand raffle, Christmas booth, pastry booth, arts and crafts, white elephant, jewelry and more. Mass for Recovery
PORTSMOUTH — The next Mass for Recovery will be offered on Sunday, Oct. 27, 5 p.m., at St. Barnabas Church, 1697 E. Main Road. These Masses, to which all are welcome, provide an opportunity for people to come together in faith to seek God’s loving kindness and grace with special prayer intentions dedicated for those in recovery.
