For the second year in a row, two Saint Philip School students have earned placement in the Rhode Island State Spelling Bee by taking top honors in their school and also at the diocesan level. Laurel Christensen of Grade 7 and Anna Vredenburg of Grade 8 competed against students from other Rhode Island Catholic schools at the Diocesan Spelling Bee on January 31. As two of the top three highest ranked spellers, Christensen and Vredenburg now advance to the state competition at Lincoln Middle School on March 16.
