PORTSMOUTH — Saint Philomena School recently announced the following outcomes as the culmination of its four-year strategic transition.
Reflecting its new corporate structure as a Catholic independent school sponsored by the Religious of the Sacred Heart and governed by its Board of Trustees, the school is now Saint Philomena School of the Sacred Heart. This follows the announcement in March of acceptance into the internationally recognized Network of Sacred Heart Schools.
On July 1, the school completed the acquisition of its 26 acre waterfront campus in Portsmouth. Securing what Principal Brian Cordeiro called an “important and valuable asset” at the purchase price of $2.5M marks another step to ensure the long-term strength and vitality of the institution. The real estate component of the transition is also another example of the vision and generosity of the school’s founding Faithful Companions of Jesus (FCJ) Sisters who owned the property and had been leasing the buildings and grounds to the school for many years.
“As a strong Catholic, independent school, Saint Philomena School of the Sacred Heart is well-positioned to fulfill its mission to foster the courage and confidence of children to discover, develop, and use their God-given gifts and talents to transform the world for good,” said Cordeiro. “We look forward to the future with great courage and confidence.”
