PROVIDENCE — Members of the Rhode Island State Police Computer Crimes Unit (CCU) recently sponsored a Rhode Island family in need, giving them a wonderful, unexpected Christmas gift of $1,000 in Target gift cards, through a donation to the diocesan Office of Catholic Charities and Social Ministry.
Sister Chan My Nguyen, F.M.M., coordinator of the diocesan effort said, “The family of 6 includes four children, from just 8 months old to early teens, including one child who is disabled. Also, their father is battling cancer. This will be so wonderful for all of them!”
Now in their sixth season of generous support, the members of the Crimes Unit are grateful to be able to help, and said in a statement, “This is a real feel-good moment for all of us. We spend the whole year involved in crimes against kids, it is nice to be able to just give to kids. We are hoping to put a smile on the faces of the whole family.”
Catholic Charities and Social Ministry Director James Jahnz said, “The unit is always a big help at Christmas time, and we are very, very grateful for their continued support!”
