WAKEFIELD — Two students of The Prout School were among the musicians selected for participation in All-State ensembles by the Rhode Island Music Education Association: Lena Eng and Erin Abatiello.
These students, along with other students across Rhode Island, auditioned for a panel of judges — all professional musicians — via recorded video during the period of Nov. 14 through Nov. 21, 2020.
Eng, a sophomore from Wakefield, ranked third for cello in the Senior All-State Orchestra and will play in the virtual All-State ensemble later this year. During the 2019-2020 school year, Eng also made the Junior All-State Orchestra in cello and was ranked eighth in the state. Eng is a member of Prout’s strings ensemble.
Abatiello, a sophomore from Warwick, made the Senior All-State Mixed Chorus. She will sing soprano in the virtual All-State ensemble later this year. Abatiello is also a member of Prout’s choir and a capella club. She plays violin in The Prout School’s string ensemble as well.
