Support families in need at school’s Trot Off Your Turkey Road Race

BARRINGTON — Celebrating its 20th consecutive running, the St. Luke’s School Annual Trot Off Your Turkey 5K/1.5M Run/Walk has become an annual post-Thanksgiving family tradition where runners from throughout the region, sponsors from throughout the state and the entire community come together to burn off their feast and support families in need throughout the East Bay community.

For the past several years, the race has exceeded 1,000 participants who choose between the USATF-certified 5K road course or the kid-friendly 1.5-mile loop.

This year’s event will take place at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Nov. 30, at the school, 10 Waldron Ave. For more information including registration cost visit, www.stlukesri.org/trotoffyourturkey. Runners will enjoy a sponsor showcase, race prizes and a post-race food spread. Participants can register in-person on race day or in advance via the website.

Partnering with local nonprofit Tap-In (Touch A Person In Need), a member of the Rhode Island Community Food Bank offering support services for families in need throughout the East Bay, the annual Trot Off Your Turkey road race successfully brings the community together to celebrate health and friendly competition all with a reunion feel on Thanksgiving weekend. In addition to benefiting Tap-In’s mission through race day raffles, proceeds from the race support St. Luke’s School student enrichment activities and service ministry projects which affect the entire local community.

Navigant Credit Union will continue its multi-year lead sponsorship for the annual race which is made possible by the generous support of more than 50 community sponsors, including Jaffe Orthodontics, Dr. Andy Molak Family & Cosmetic Dentistry, and McVay Physical Therapy.

Tap-In is an all-volunteer outreach program that has been serving residents in need since 1983. through its food pantry, children’s clothing donations, transportation services, Thanksgiving and holiday programs and more, the Tap-In family of 125+ dedicated volunteers is helping to change lives throughout Rhode Island’s East Bay including Barrington, Bristol, East Providence and Warren.
