CUMBERLAND — With the COVID-19 restrictions and vulnerability of older parishioners returning to Mass in mind, teens from St. John Vianney Church Youth Ministry recently took part in a special outreach project, sending out handwritten letters of support and encouragement.
With 21 teen volunteers, the ministry reached 210 parishioners with cards and letters, a note from Father Joe Pescatello, pastor, as well as creative personal inserts. Some items included were tea bags, scripture quotes, bookmarks, prayer cards and artwork.
“Teens were very willing to take part in this service opportunity,” said Youth Ministry Coordinator Veronica Plante. “Parishioners who were on the receiving end, were so grateful for being remembered in such a thoughtful and personal way.
