The St. Martin de Porres Multi-Service Center, in Providence, held a Unity in the Community event on Thursday, Aug. 31. Bishop Richard G. Henning stopped by to greet the seniors during the afternoon of fun, music, and lunch provided by the St. Patrick “Project Emmanuel” food truck. The diocesan St. Martin de Porres Multi-Service Center coordinates with more than 40 agencies in bringing services to Rhode Island’s seniors, in particular the poor and ethnic minorities, assisting them with navigating the often complicated process of obtaining food stamps, filling prescriptions and paying utility bills.
