Sweden announced last Tuesday that it would cut all aid to several Latin American nations, including Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador and Peru. The Swedish Government suggested the move was an effort to promote more human rights in the area. The human rights the Swedes are so concerned about that they’ll cut millions of dollars in much-needed aid is not the torture of prisoners, the oppression of a free press, restrictions on free exercise of religion. or the violation of conscience of political prisoners. more
TO THE EDITOR: Regarding your August 23, 2007 editorial "Sunday is God's Day....", everyone can certainly agree on that and no doubt everyone applauds the provision for Mass the NFL's Steelers place in their hotel contracts. Yet, I could not help notice the Mass provisions is one of many items including: filet mignon, prime rib, a Niagara of Gatorade and bottled water, made-to-order omelets and of course Heinz ketchup, all in a 17-page contract. more
