Gregorian Concert Choir and Festival Orchestra to present concert for the Blessed Mother

PROVIDENCE — The Gregorian Concert Choir and Festival Orchestra will present a concert entitled “Sing of Mary” at the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, on Saturday, March 18, at 7 p.m. The concert will be given in celebration of ‘A Year with Mary our Mother, announced by Bishop Thomas J. Tobin for the Diocese of Providence. Throughout the centuries, artists, writers and composers have created beautiful images and sounds to honor the mother of God. The concert will feature Marian music beginning with the Gregorian chant as well as classical and contemporary works composed to honor the holy mother of God. 40 Days for Life Fall Campaign begins

PROVIDENCE — The Office of Life and Family Ministry and R.I. Right to Life will co-sponsor the Lenten campaign which will take place now through Palm Sunday, April 9. The office is asking parishes to adopt a day or for individuals to adopt an hour for prayer at Planned Parenthood, 111 Point Street, Providence, or the Women’s Medical Clinic, 1725 Broad Street, Cranston during this 40 day period. Find healing at an upcoming Rachel’s Vineyard Retreat

PROVIDENCE — The Diocese of Providence will be offering two Rachel’s Vineyard Retreat weekends. The English retreat will be from March 17 to March 19 and the Spanish retreat will be from March 31 to April 2. St. Mary Church to host corned beef and cabbage dinner

WEST WARWICK — A traditional Irish Dinner, baked stuffed chicken breast optional, will be served in St. Mary’s parish hall, 70 Church Street on Saturday, March 18, beginning with hors d’oeuvres at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 p.m. Dinner includes corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, carrots, turnips, beets, rolls/Irish Bread, beverages and desserts. Prayer Shawl Ministry to sponsor Mass of Anointing of the Sick

JOHNSTON — The Prayer Shawl Ministry of St. Brigid’s Church, 1231 Plainfield St., will sponsor their quarterly Mass of Anointing of the sick on Saturday, March 4, at 11 a.m. Anyone preparing for surgery, suffering from a chronic illness, elderly or experiencing spiritual and emotional pain is invited to come and pray for healing. Marian Theatre Project to be featured at Jesus Saviour Church

NEWPORT— The Rosary Sodality will host the Marian Theatre Project on Sunday, March 5, following the 10 a.m. Mass, at Jesus Saviour Church, One Vernon Ave. Elizabeth Montigny will present “Walking With Our Mother,” a scripture-based presentation on the Passion of Jesus, through the eyes of the Blessed Mother. This performance is about 20 minutes in length and appropriate for ages 13 and older. Refreshments following. All are invited.

St. Joseph’s to host annual Spring Dinner

PASCOAG — St. Joseph’s Annual Spring Dinner is scheduled for Saturday, March 18, immediately following the 5:30 p.m. Mass in the church hall. The menu will include chicken Parmesan, ziti, salad, roasted potatoes, string beans, rolls, coffee and dessert. There will be nine cash prizes. Raffles will include theme baskets and various small appliances. Children four and younger are free. Magnificat to host women’s breakfast

PROVIDENCE — Magnificat, “Our Lady of Divine Providence,” an international women’s group, will hold a breakfast on Saturday, March 25, from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Providence Marriot, Orms Street. The guest speaker will be Rev. John Gray, a promoter of the Home Enthronement to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Father Gray is a senior priest celebrating 59 years in the Diocese of Providence and has assisted in many parishes and hospital ministries. He is also former Chaplain for the Knights of Columbus and director of the Catholic Youth Organization. St. Michael Church to sponsor St. Patrick’s Day Party

CRANSTON — St. Michael Church to sponsor St. Patrick’s Day Party at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet on March 17. St. Francis of Assisi Church to host Organ Symphony

WAKEFIELD — An Organ Symphony will be performed on Sunday, March 26 at 3 p.m., in St. Francis of Assisi Church 114 High St. This Organ Symphony, written and performed by Enrico Garzilli, takes its inspiration from Luke 1: 26-56. The symphony is written in five movements and follows the beautiful journey of the Blessed Mother. ‘Autism Eats’ coming to East Providence

EAST PROVIDENCE — St. Brendan’s Church is proudly collaborating with Autism Eats, a non-profit organization that helps promote and provide autism-friendly and non-judgmental environments for family dining, socializing and connecting with others who share similar joys and challenges. Often times families with children on the autism spectrum face challenges when dining out. The Autism Eats program arranges in advance with local restaurants to train and educate the staff to take the stress out of dining out for families. These are family dinners and all attending have a loved one on the spectrum so there is no need to apologize, explain or feel uncomfortable. It is an opportunity to enjoy a night out and socialize with others who have many of the same joys and challenges in common. Dinners are served by reservation only and a set per-person price has been negotiated with the restaurant in advance. The dinner will take place on Tuesday, March 21 at Chelo’s Hometown Bar and Grille, 911 Warren Ave. in East Providence. Knights to host Irish Breakfast

R.I. Knights to host Day of Recollection for all Catholics

WARWICK — The Knights of Columbus councils throughout Rhode Island cordially invite all Catholics to participate in their annual Day of Recollection on Saturday, March 18, at 9 a.m., at St. Gregory the Great parish hall, located at 360 Cowesett Road. Opportunity for Consecration to Mary

Bishop to lead Parish Mission at SS. John & Paul Church

COVENTRY — Bishop Thomas J. Tobin will host the annual Parish Mission at SS. John & Paul Church, from Sunday, March 5 through Wednesday, March 8 on “Lent: A Journey from Sin to Grace and from Death to Life.” Bishop Tobin will preach at the 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Masses on Sunday; the mission will begin at 7 p.m. each evening, Monday through Wednesday, with the Sacrament of Reconciliation offered at the Tuesday mission. Lenten Mission scheduled for All Saints Church

WOONSOCKET — Woonsocket Council #113 Knights of Columbus is sponsoring its third annual Lenten Mission to be held at All Saints Church, 323 Rathbun St. This will be a three-night event on March 13, 14 and 15, beginning at 7 p.m. A presentation will be offered each night, followed by an opportunity for confession on Monday and Tuesday and Holy Mass on Wednesday. The featured speaker will be Father Timothy Reilly, chancellor for the Diocese of Providence. Each night will conclude with a light collation and fellowship. The general public is invited to attend.

St. Agnes Church announces Lenten Mass schedule and Pasta Supper

PROVIDENCE — The Lenten schedule for St. Agnes Church, 351 Branch Ave., is as follows: Weekday Masses during Lent will be celebrated on Mondays and Fridays at noon. Saint Christopher Church to host Lenten movie nights

TIVERTON — Saint Christopher Church will host Lenten movie nights on Tuesday, March 7, “Mary of Nazareth,” and Tuesday March 21, “Road of Hope,” a film about the spiritual journey of Vietnamese Cardinal Nguyen Van Thuan who was imprisoned for 13 years.
