Bishop Feehan High School senior Lauren Pereira of Cumberland, R.I., was selected by the National Federation for Youth Ministry as a recipient of a national St. Timothy Award. Pereira was selected through the Catholic Youth Ministry of the Diocese of Providence based on the information provided by her nominator, Religious Education Coordinator Melissa DiFonzo, of Our Lady of Fatima parish in Cumberland. According to Louise Dussault, director of Catholic Youth Ministry, this national award is “given by the diocese to a Catholic youth who: loves as a disciple of Christ, setting a positive example for other youth; are witnesses to their faith by exhibiting Catholic morals and integrity; demonstrates Gospel values through service to others; and exhibits Christian leadership in parish, school, and/or community setting.” The awards will be presented by Bishop Thomas Tobin at the Catholic Youth Ministry and Scout Awards Celebration held at the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul in Providence on March 12.
