The Chrism Mass

Posted

On Monday evening, Bishop Thomas J. Tobin was joined by priests from throughout the diocese in celebrating the annual Chrism Mass, during which the chrism and other holy oils are consecrated for use during the year.

The Chrism Mass marks in a special way the vocation of priests, as well as deacons and other religious, who gather to receive the oils into their parishes.

During the homily, Bishop Tobin spoke about the role of priests called to be “missionaries of mercy” during this Jubilee Year of Mercy.

"My brothers and sisters,” he told those gathered, “we have to be grateful of how generously God’s mercy has been bestowed on us from the beginning of our lives.”
