Share your lifetime of experience through Ignatian Volunteer Corps
PROVIDENCE — Ignatian Volunteer Corps is an opportunity for adult men and women “50 and better” to offer their skills, wisdom, and life experience in service to those in need. In return for a commitment of 1 or 2 days a week with a local service opportunity, the IVC program provides monthly spiritual guidance for personal reflection, prayerful conversations with fellow IVC members, and occasional retreats. Together, we hope to see the face of Christ in those we serve. IVC serves schools and a variety of nonprofits throughout the New England area. Young Adult Summer Series: Theology on Fire
GREENVILLE — St. Philip Church, will host Theology on Fire Fridays 7-9:30 p.m.: August 25 and September 22. Young adults, ages 18-29, are invited to casual evenings by the fire with social time, a talk and refreshments. Join for Adoration in Our Lady’s Chapel at 6:30 p.m., then head to the back of the property to our St. John Paul 2 Grotto/Fire Pit area. In the case of rain, meet in the St. Philip School Library which is behind the playground.
 
Knights to host Clam Cake and Chowder fundraiser
CUMBERLAND — Knights of Columbus St. John Vianney Council #12312 will hold a Clam Cake and Chowder fundraiser on Aug. 26 courtesy of Mickey G's. The event will start at 6 p.m., outside St. John Vianney Church, 3587 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Profits will be used to support St. John Vianney Parish and Council #12312's various charitable and community volunteer programs.

WOONSOCKET — St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, 174 Harris Ave., will host the annual Polkabration on Saturday, August 26, from noon to 10 p.m. The event will feature Polish-American food and many attractions.
 
St. Joseph Church to host a discussion on Church history
WEST WARWICK — A free talk series about the Church Fathers and the history of the Church’s first 400 years will take place Mondays, now through August 28, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m., at St. Joseph Church, 854 Providence St. Each talk will focus on a different century of the Church. You need not attend every night to learn some exciting history of our faith. Every session is a standalone talk, although all four are ultimately connected.
 
Bereavement support group
PROVIDENCE — The Bereavement Ministry of St. Pius V Parish will sponsor a monthly bereavement support group for anyone grieving the loss of a loved one. The group will give participants a safe and sacred space in which to learn about grief and to share their grief experiences. Meetings will be held at St. Pius V Church on the first Thursday of the month from September through February from 7-8 p.m. There is no fee, but pre-registration is required. Deadline to register for the first session is Aug. 31. There will be a different topic each month. In the first session, participants will identify common feelings, coping skills, self-care in dealing with feelings. We will also introduce the process for giving supportive feedback to each other. Mother of Life Pregnancy Center Annual Rose Gala
NORTH KINGSTOWN — The Center will host its biggest annual fundraiser on Friday, Sept. 15, at 6 p.m. at scenic Quidnessett Country Club, 950 North Quidnessett Road. The event features a cocktail hour and appetizers, two brief and touching client testimonies, a delicious sit-down dinner, a paddle raise, and dancing. Polish-American Festival
CENTRAL FALLS — St. Joseph’s Parish, 391 High St., will host their annual Polish-American Festival, Friday, Sept. 8, 6 p.m. – midnight; Saturday, Sept. 9, 6 p.m. – midnight; and Sunday, Sept 10, noon – 5 p.m. The event will feature music by Polka Baltic Boys Band and DJs, Polish-American food, games and various attractions.
