Busy Days for Bishop Henning

Even before his first official day as Bishop of Providence on Monday, May 1, 2023, Bishop Richard G. Henning has been busy getting to know the people of Rhode Island through his many visits to parishes, schools and community landmarks to say hello and continue to learn the diverse landscape of the Ocean State.

 From offering his first Lenten mission series (in English and Spanish), many pastoral visits to parishes, schools and the Statehouse, to welcoming faithful into the Catholic Church on the Easter Vigil, Bishop Richard G. Henning is making his way around Rhode Island. Bishop Henning, who was appointed November 23, 2022, by Pope Francis as Coadjutor Bishop of Providence, automatically succeeded Bishop Thomas J. Tobin as the ninth Bishop of Providence on, Monday, May 1.
