Religious Jubilarians celebrate milestone anniversaries

Many filled St. Kevin Church in Warwick on Sunday, May 7, to honor religious jubilarians celebrating anniversaries in their ministry. In his homily, Bishop Richard G. Henning congratulated the religious sisters, brothers and priests, and thanked them “for the gift of their heart.” Bishop Henning told those gathered, “Religious men and women have been so critical to the foundation of the Church, in part because they brought critical institutions of compassion, of education to a new country, to a new land. They gave of themselves and they built up — literally and concretely — the culture of our world…As much as we might celebrate the institutions, and buildings and all the things you have built, what’s more important is the heart. If we could show a fast-forward movie of your life, we would see the men, women and children whose lives have been touched by your self-gift, many of whom you don’t even realize the effect you have had on them…Thank you for the gift of your heart, for trusting the Lord and loving his people.”
