PROVIDENCE — The Diocese of Providence Office of Life and Family Ministry will be hosting the following peaceful, prayerful and respectful activities for life — supporting the sanctity of human life from the moment of conception to natural death. 40 Days for LIFE: Today-Sunday, Nov. 5, at public right-of-way outside 175 Broad St., Providence; Life Chain Sunday: Sunday, Oct. 1, 2-3 p.m., gatherings held diocese-wide - call for schedule; 2023 Human Life Guild Day: Saturday, Oct. 28, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, Providence. It will begin with Holy Mass in the Cathedral celebrated by Bishop Richard G. Henning with Father Ryan Connors, homilist. Flea market
PROVIDENCE — St. Agnes Church, 351 Branch Ave., will hold a flea market in the church hall on Saturday, Sept. 30 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., and will feature household goods, furniture, decorative items, seasonal decorations, books, puzzles, CD’s, DVDs and much more. Harvest Happening Basket Bonanza
WARREN — St. Alexander Mission, 221 Main St., will host a Harvest Happening Basket Bonanza on Saturday, Sept. 30 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., in the church hall. The event will feature a variety of themed gift baskets to win, in addition to a white elephant table, kids crafts, costume jewelry, knitted items and raffle items. The morning hours will offer various pastries and coffee for purchase and the afternoon will have homemade sandwiches and soup.
Fall Dance at St. Thomas the Apostle
WARREN — St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 500 Metacom Ave., will host a Fall Dance on Saturday, Sept. 30 from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. The music will be provided by Gary James Farias. An admission fee will be charged at the door. The kitchen will be open selling sandwiches and soft drinks. There will be a raffle, 50/50, and a silent auction. If you can, please bring a pastry to share.
Saint Raphael Academy Open House
PAWTUCKET — Saint Raphael Academy invites prospective students and their families to an Open House on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023, from 12 to 3 p.m. Register online at www.saintrays.org. Feast of St. Therese of Lisieux
BURRILLVILLE — The 100th Anniversary celebrations of the Shrine of the Little Flower, 35 Dion Drive, continue Sunday, Oct. 1, on the Feast of St. Thérèse of Lisieux. The day begins with Mass at noon, followed by a procession and exposition of the relic of the saint. After a break for lunch, adoration and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy will be prayed in the church. Stations of the Cross, prayers at the Holy Stairs and the new Rosary Walk take place outdoors in the afternoon. The Shrine bookstore and gift shop will be open, and food trucks, including local clam cakes and chowder, will be serving lunches. Parish volunteers will be available to assist visitors. Transitus
PROVIDENCE — St. Patrick Church, 244 Smith St., will hold a Transitus Service (the Passing of St. Francis to Eternal Life) on Tuesday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m., in the church. All are invited to participate. This event is co-sponsored by the St. Clare of Assisi and Holy Spirit Secular Franciscan fraternities in honor of the feast of St. Francis of Assisi.
Catholic Teaching on End-of-Life Issues
GREENVILLE — Peter J. Colosi, Ph.D., associate professor of philosophy at Salve Regina University, and guest speakers, Deacon Timothy Flanigan, M.D.; Tracy Loignon, Esq.; Chris DiIorio will present a series of three talks discussing the fullness of Catholic teaching on suffering, death,and dying, and will explain the false premises of the pro-euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide movements. This series will help participants to better understand and carry out Christ’s mandate to care for the sick and dying in a manner that honors God and respects the dignity of persons. Giant flea market
CUMBERLAND — A Giant flea market will take place on Saturday Oct. 7, in the historic St. Joseph’s Church, 1303 Mendon Road, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. The event will feature more than 25 vendors, split the pot, bake sale, and snack bar.
Author Dawn Eden Goldstein to speak at La Salette Shrine
ATTLEBORO, Mass. — The La Salette Shrine Welcome Center will host an evening with author Dawn Eden Goldstein, renowned for her inspiring book, “Father Ed: The Story of Bill W’s Spiritual Sponsor,” on Saturday, Oct. 7, 6 p.m. Her compelling book delves into the life of Father Ed Dowling, an influential figure in the recovery community. Father Ed served as the spiritual sponsor to Bill Wilson, one of the co-founders of Alcoholics Anonymous. This remarkable story of spiritual guidance and recovery has resonated with countless individuals seeking a path to sobriety and inner peace. Prior to the talk and book signing, at 4:30 p.m., a special Mass will be held for those whose lives have been affected by addiction. This Mass offers a moment of reflection, hope and healing for individuals and families touched by the challenges of addiction. Knights to bring Italian feast to Scituate Art Festival
NORTH SCITUATE — During the Scituate Art Festival on October 7, 8 and 9, the Knights of Columbus Feeney Council will sponsor a Ristorante San Giuseppe in St. Joseph’s Church hall at 144 Danielson Pike, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., daily. A full Italian meal, including meatballs and pasta, salad with dressing, beverage, Italian bread, dessert and many more food items will be served. The Ristorante will be located at the intersection of Rte 116 and Danielson Pike. Entrance by the parking lot on the side of the church. “To Go” orders will also be available.
Annual Rosary Festival
NORTH EASTON, Mass. — The Family Rosary Annual Rosary Festival will take place on October 7, 6 p.m., in the Father Peyton Center, 518 Washington St., will include an inspiring outdoor candlelit Rosary procession for all ages led by priests from the Congregation of Holy Cross. Prayer will be followed by seasonal treats of cider and donuts.

Blessing of the Pets at St. Joan of Arc
CUMBERLAND — Father Robert Lacombe will provide a Blessing of the Pets to celebrate the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi on Sunday, Oct. 8, 2 p.m. The 15-minute ceremony will be held at the Mary Shrine located outside of St. Joan of Arc Church, 3357 Mendon Road. Pets from all parishes are welcome.
Silent Art Auction Benefiting Our Lady of Providence Seminary
PROVIDENCE — All are invited to a Silent Art Auction to benefit Our Lady of Providence Seminary. The event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2 – 4 p.m., at the seminary, 485 Mt. Pleasant Ave., will feature diverse pieces ranging from Amsterdam etchings, local landscapes, folk art, antique oils, and art glass. Discover the talent of local artists, including Reynold H. Weidenaar and the late, acclaimed Joan Boghossian, whose landscapes include Narragansett and Pawtucket landmarks. All proceeds from this event will support the Seminary in Providence.
Fall Breakfast
EAST PROVIDENCE — Our Lady of Loreto Church, 346 Waterman Ave., will host a Fall Breakfast on Sunday, Oct. 15, serving from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The menu will include ham, sausage, eggs, home fries, baked beans, pancakes, pastries, coffee, tea and juice. There will also be multiple raffles with a special Split the Pot to end the morning. TIVERTON — Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 316 Judson St., will hold their annual harvest festival on Saturday, Oct. 21 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 22, from 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. The festival includes a “Treats and Sweets” table, themed gift baskets, holiday and handmade items, books and DVDs, an assortment of raffles, and a kitchen serving a variety of foods. Kids can enjoy the children’s corner. There is a raffle grand prize of $2,000, with a second prize of $750 and third prize of $500. All drawings will be held at noon on Sunday. Day of Recollection
BRISTOL — The Nocturnal Adoration Society will host a Day of Recollection at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, on Saturday, Oct. 21, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. The day will begin with Mass and adoration at 9 a.m., in church then continuing at the Msgr. John W. Lolio Parish Center. Please RSVP by Oct. 7. Seminarian dinner
WOONSOCKET — The Woonsocket Council #113 will host a pasta and meatball dinner on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 5 – 7 p.m., in the Good Shepherd School gym, 1200 Mendon Road. Dinner consists of pasta, homemade meatballs, salad, garlic bread, dessert, coffee, tea and soda. Children under 5 eat for free. Concert to benefit Food Pantry
LINCOLN — A Benefit Concert for the Northern Rhode Island Food Pantry, with music by Diane Walsh and friends, will take place on Sunday, Oct. 29, at 2 p.m. All proceeds go to support the pantry. The event will take place at St. Jude Church. If possible, please bring a canned good or non-perishable food item donation.
