PROVIDENCE —The Catholic Foundation of Rhode Island has opened its membership of the St. Katharine Drexel Society to any donor who has planned an estate gift to any Catholic ministry, church or school in the Diocese of Providence. Formerly, only those donors wishing to establish or donate to an endowment through the Catholic Foundation of Rhode Island were eligible.
“It’s going to be a very vibrant community of caring people,” said Cyndy Brown, who serves as assistant director of Planned Giving. “I look forward to helping it grow.”
Brown joined the Catholic Foundation in October 2021, bringing 29 years of development experience to the including nine years exclusively helping donors leave a legacy through their estate plans. She spent most of her career in organizations that serve the poor such as Oxfam America, Plan International, and United Methodist Elder Care. Her volunteer work includes serving as Vice President on the board of 134 Collaborative, which helps Providence’s social justice organizations and disadvantaged community members.
Rich Popovich, executive director for the Catholic Foundation of Rhode Island, said “Cyndy’s extensive knowledge of planned giving and donor relations will serve the Catholic Foundation very well as we progress into the future.”
Brown, a parishioner of St. Teresa of the Child Jesus Parish, is working to promote the Catholic Foundation of Rhode Island in new ways and hopes to build its capacity to help more people and strengthen Catholic causes.
