The Red Mass — for State’s Legal Community
PROVIDENCE — Most Rev. Richard Henning, Archbishop-elect of Boston, cordially invites the legal profession to the Red Mass on Thursday, Sept. 26 at 5 p.m. at St. Dominic Chapel, Providence College, 1 Cunningham Square, Providence. Archbishop-elect Henning will be the principal celebrant and Rev. Justin Brophy, O.P., professor of Political Science at Providence College, will be the homilist. At the Red Mass, the Church invokes the Holy Spirit and prays for wisdom, prudence, and justice at the opening of the judicial year. The custom received its name from the scarlet robes worn by justices in European courts since the thirteenth century. Today, the Red Mass gathers judges, lawyers, public officials, law faculty, students and graduates from across the state of Rhode Island to join in thanksgiving to Almighty God, prayer for a successful year, and fellowship with the legal community.
Clam Cake and Chowder fundraiser

Walking Through Grief
ATTLEBORO, Mass. — La Salette Retreat Center, 947 Park Street, Building A, is offering a series designed to support individuals navigating the challenging journey of loss. The series will be facilitated by Holy Union Sister Fran Casey, an experienced retreat and spiritual director. This program is structured to gently guide participants through the various stages of grief, helping them find healing and hope through shared experiences, spiritual practices and the compassionate presence of others. St. Joseph Polish Fest

Bus trip to the National Shrine of Divine Mercy
STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. — The Men of Saint Joseph are hosting a bus trip to National Shrine of Divine Mercy. This event is open to the public. PROVIDENCE — Holy Ghost Church, 472 Atwells Ave., will host a pop-up Ladies Closet featuring women’s clothes, shoes, jewelry, handbags and accessories on Sunday, Sept. 8 from 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. Weather permitting it will be held outside. Inclement weather it will be in the church basement. Proceeds will support the Saint Vincent de Paul food pantry.

WARREN — St. Thomas the Apostle Church will host its last free afternoon of music on September 8. Gary Farias will be performing from 1-4 p.m., outside. Ignatian Volunteer Corps seeks volunteers
PROVIDENCE — The Ignatian Volunteer Corps is currently seeking volunteers aged 50 and older to start in the Fall of 2024. Each volunteer commits to serve one to two days per week for 10 months at an agency working with individuals struggling with poverty and marginalization. Volunteers also engage in monthly opportunities for spiritual growth in the Jesuit tradition. Placement sites are located in the Providence, Worcester, and Boston areas.
