PROVIDENCE — On Sunday, December 11, the Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul held the annual Sounds of the Season concert to raise funds for the Diocese of Providence’s “Keep the Heat On” program.
“Keep the Heat On” has provided heating and utility bill assistance to Rhode Islanders in need for close to two decades, offering assistance towards emergency deliveries of home heating oil and heating utility bills for those in the Ocean State who have exhausted other public and private assistance programs and still need help.
Performing to a packed congregation was the Gregorian Concert Choir and Orchestra, conducted by Rev. Monsignor Anthony Mancini, the director of the Gregorian Concert Choir and rector of the cathedral, and was accompanied by Philip L. Faraone on organ.
The concert performance was comprised of a variety of different Christmas songs, including traditional liturgical music from Advent and Christmas seasons, carols and folk songs.
Rhode Islanders in need can receive assistance through the “Keep the Heat On” website HeatRI.com or by calling 401-421-7833. Donations to the fund are also accepted at HeatRI.com.
