Faith on Fire
GREENVILLE — Young adults (ages 18-29) are invited to an evening around the fire Friday, Aug. 9, 7- 9 p.m., at St. Philip Church, which includes a talk from a local priest/speaker, fellowship and snacks and s’mores. Our Lady of the Rosary plans Parish Feast and Procession
PROVIDENCE — Our Lady of the Rosary will celebrate its parish feast on August 9 - 11. There will be homemade Portuguese food specialties, including Malassadas (doughboys), live entertainment each evening, and amusement rides for the children. On Friday, Aug. 9, 7 p.m., Archbishop-elect Richard G. Henning will be the main celebrant and homilist at the Mass in honor of Our Lady of Fatima. Following the Mass, there will be a candlelight procession and the recitation of the Rosary through the streets of Fox Point. All are welcome to attend.
Knights plan golf tournament
RICHMOND — The Knights of Columbus Pope Pius XII Council in Narragansett will host its 12th annual Golf Tournament at the Richmond Country Club, 74 Sandy Pond Road, on Saturday, August 10. To date, the tournament has provided over $76,000 in seminarian scholarships and more than $40,000 to local charities. Knights plan $5,000 Raffle
CRANSTON — Rev. Richard A. Donnelly, Council No. 322 of the Knights of Columbus will conduct a $5,000 Raffle in honor of the Feast of Blessed McGivney. Only 150 tickets will be sold. Blessed McGivney Feast Celebration
CRANSTON — The Rev. Richard A. Donnelly Council No. 322 will host a Blessed McGivney feast celebration on Sunday, Aug. 11, at St. Mark Church, 31 Poplar Drive. The schedule is as follows: 10 a.m. Sunday Solemn Mass in Anticipation of the Feast of Blessed McGivney; 11 a.m. Exemplification of Charity Unity and Fraternity; 11:40 a.m. Free family cookout; 12:30 p.m. Blessed McGivney feast day raffle drawing. Young adult community service day August 17
PROVIDENCE — Join the Diocese of Providence on Saturday, August 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., for a fulfilling and impactful Young Adult Day of Community Service. This event brings together young adults in the diocese to volunteer their time and effort in various service projects. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in activities such as ministry to the homeless, nursing home visits, and various diocesan projects. St. Theresa Church and Shrine of the Little Flower to celebrate 101st Anniversary
NASONVILLE — On Sunday, August 18, from 1 – 6 p.m., St. Theresa Church and Shrine of the Little Flower will celebrate their 101st Anniversary Day. The days’ devotions will include prayers at the holy stairs, the Stations of the Cross, the Divine Mercy chaplet, the Rosary at the new Rosary walk and Mass at 5 p.m. While this year’s celebration will be somewhat scaled down compared to last year’s Jubilee celebrations, volunteers are still very welcome. Little Sisters of the Poor to hold Summer Soirée
PAWTUCKET — The Little Sisters of the Poor of Pawtucket will hold their Summer Soirée on Wednesday, Aug. 21, from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at Jeanne Jugan Residence, 964 Main St., Pawtucket. Tickets include wine and craft beer as well as small bites from area restaurants. The event will take place outdoors in the residence’s garden. All proceeds will support the Little Sisters’ mission of caring for the elderly poor. Tickets must be purchased in advance and are available online at littlesistersofthepoorpawtucket.org. Clam Cake and Chowder fundraiser
CUMBERLAND — The Knights of Columbus St. John Vianney Council #12312 will hold a Clam Cake and Chowder fundraiser on August 24 courtesy of Mickey G’s The event will start at 5 p.m. outside St. John Vianney Church, 3587 Diamond Hill Road. Profits will go to support St. John Vianney Parish and the council’s various charitable and volunteer programs in the community. BARRINGTON — Holy Angels Parish will hold Take-Out Thursday, a charity food sale and popular East Bay attraction, on August 29. A carryout menu offering modestly priced options of a “Party Time Clam Combo,” “Festive Flavor Burger Puffs,” and “Sun ‘N Fun Chicken Bites” is available, along with cheesecake for dessert. CUMBERLAND — Our Lady of Fatima Parish’s Youth Ministry will host a motorcycle run on Saturday, Aug. 31 at the parish, One Fatima Drive. The schedule for the day is as follows: 9 a.m.: Registration; 10 a.m.: Blessing of the Bikes; 10:30 a.m.: Bike run begins. St. Joseph Parish plans Polish Festival
CENTRAL FALLS — St. Joseph Parish, 391 High St., will hold its annual Polish Festival, September 6 – 8; Friday, Sept 6 (6 p.m.-12 a.m.); Saturday, Sept. 7 (6 p.m.-12 a.m.); and Sunday, Sept. 8 (noon - 5 p.m.) The festival will include delicious Polish and American food, games of chance, children’s entertainment and live music. UNBOUND Prayer Ministry Team
WESTERLY — Unbound is a ministry of healing at St. Pius X Church, 45 Elm St., in which a trained prayer team prays with individuals to assist them in overcoming the spiritual obstacles they encounter in their path of Christian discipleship and take hold of greater freedom in Christ. Ignatian Volunteer Corps seeks volunteers
PROVIDENCE — The Ignatian Volunteer Corps is currently seeking volunteers aged 50 and older to start in the Fall of 2024. Each volunteer commits to serve one to two days per week for 10 months at an agency working with individuals struggling with poverty and marginalization. Volunteers also engage in monthly opportunities for spiritual growth in the Jesuit tradition. Placement sites are located in the Providence, Worcester, and Boston areas.
