Life in the Spirit Seminar
PAWTUCKET —St. John Paul II Parish will host a Life in the Spirit Seminar at 755 Central Ave., in the St. Cecilia Church building. The seminar will be held on six Fridays from September 22 through October 27 starting at 6 p.m. Light refreshments will follow at 7 p.m. Life in the Spirit will be led by Don and Pat Turbitt and assisted by Paul and Monique Marcotte.  This event is free, but registration is requested.  To register, please call the parish office at 401-722-1220 x2.  A full list of weekly topics can be found at

St. Vincent de Paul Friends of the Poor Walk 

CRANSTON — The Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVDP) Rhode Island will host its annual Friends of the Poor Walk on Sunday, September 24 at St. Mark Church Field in Cranston. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. and activities will last until 1 p.m. The day will feature a one-mile walk, food, music, a raffle, and family-fun activities. There will also be a clothing, food, and toiletry drive. Proceeds from the walk will be directly reinvested into the community to serve local Rhode Islanders in need. Prior to the walk, all are welcome to 10 a.m. Mass at St. Mark Church. Take-Out Thursday to benefit Holy Angels Social Outreach Ministry

BARRINGTON — Take-Out Thursday, a charity food sale will return to Holy Angels Church on September 28.  A carryout menu offering options of a fresh salad, blue-ribbon ham and cheese chicken, and sausage, peppers and onion grinders, as well as apple cinnamon swirl cake will be available. Advanced ordering is necessary and orders will be accepted until 7 p.m., on Saturday, Sept. 23.  For more information and to order, please call or text Judy at 465-8439 or Barbara at 249-1104. Proceeds from Take-Out Thursday will benefit the efforts of the Holy Angels Social Outreach Ministry, whose mission is to provide for those in need.

Flea Market

PROVIDENCE — St. Agnes Church, 351 Branch Ave., will hold a Flea Market in the church hall on Saturday, Sept. 30 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., and will feature household goods, furniture, decorative items, seasonal decorations, books, puzzles, CD’s, DVDs, and much more.  Fall Dance at St. Thomas the Apostle

WARREN — St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 500 Metacom Ave.,will host a Fall Dance on Saturday, Sept.  30 from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. The music will be provided by Gary James Farias. Admission fee will be charged at the door. The kitchen will be open selling sandwiches and soft drinks. There will be a raffle, 50/50, and a silent auction. Saint Raphael Academy Open House

PAWTUCKET — Saint Raphael Academy invites prospective students and their families to an Open House on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023, from 12 to 3 pm. Feast of St. Therese of Lisieux

BURRILLVILLE — The 100th Anniversary celebrations of the Shrine of the Little Flower, 35 Dion Drive,  continue Sunday, Oct. 1, on the Feast of St. Thérèse of Lisieux. The day begins with Mass at noon, followed by a procession and exposition of the relic of the saint. After a break for lunch, adoration and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy will be prayed in the church. Stations of the Cross, prayers at the Holy Stairs and the new Rosary Walk take place outdoors in the afternoon. The Shrine bookstore and gift shop will be open, and food trucks, including local clam cakes and chowder, will be serving lunches. Parish volunteers will be available to assist visitors.  The Beauty and Truth of Catholic Teaching on End-of-Life Issues

GREENVILLE — Peter J. Colosi, PhD, associate professor of Philosophy at Salve Regina University, and guest speakers, Dr./Deacon Timothy Flanigan, MD, Tracy Loignon, Esq., Chris DiIorio will present a series of three talks discussing the fullness of Catholic teaching on suffering, death, and dying, and will explain the false premises of the pro-euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide movements. This series will help us to better understand and carry out Christ’s mandate to care for the sick and dying in a manner that honors God and respects the dignity of persons. Giant Flea Market

CUMBERLAND — A Giant Flea Market will take place on Saturday Oct. 7 in the historic St Joseph's Church,1303 Mendon Road, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. The event will feature more than 25 vendors, split the pot, bake sale, and snack bar.

Author Dawn Eden Goldstein to speak at La Salette Shrine

ATTLEBORO, Mass. — The La Salette Shrine Welcome Center will host an evening with author Dawn Eden Goldstein, renowned for her inspiring book, “Father Ed: The Story of Bill W's Spiritual Sponsor,” on Saturday, Oct. 7, 6 p.m. Her compelling book delves into the life of Father Ed Dowling, an influential figure in the recovery community. Father Ed served as the spiritual sponsor to Bill Wilson, one of the co-founders of Alcoholics Anonymous. This remarkable story of spiritual guidance and recovery has resonated with countless individuals seeking a path to sobriety and inner peace. Prior to the talk and book signing, at 4:30 p.m., a special Mass will be held for those whose lives have been affected by addiction. This Mass offers a moment of reflection, hope and healing for individuals and families touched by the challenges of addiction. Blessing Of Animals 

PROVIDENCE — St. Patrick Church, 244 Smith St., will hold The Blessing of Animals on Saturday, Oct. 7 at 9 a.m., in the parking lot. All are invited to participate. This event is sponsored by the St. Clare of Assisi Secular Franciscan Fraternity in honor of the feast of St. Francis of Assisi.

Nocturnal Adoration Society to host Day of Recollection

BRISTOL — The Nocturnal Adoration Society will host a Day of Recollection at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, on Saturday, Oct. 21, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. The day will begin with Mass and adoration at 9 a.m., in church then continuing at the Msgr. John W. Lolio Parish Center. Please RSVP by Oct. 7. Fall Breakfast

EAST PROVIDENCE — Our Lady of Loreto Church, 346 Waterman Ave., will host a Fall Breakfast on Sunday, Oct. 15, serving from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.  The menu will include ham, sausage, eggs, home fries, baked beans, pancakes, pastries, coffee, tea and juice. There will also be multiple raffles with a special Split the Pot to end the morning. Annual Harvest Festival

TIVERTON — Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 316 Judson St., will hold their annual Harvest Festival on Saturday, Oct. 21 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 22, from 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. The festival includes a “Treats and Sweets” table, themed gift baskets, beautiful holiday and handmade items, books and DVDs, an assortment of raffles, and a kitchen serving great food. Kids can enjoy the children’s corner. There is a raffle grand prize of $2000, with a second prize of $750 and third prize of $500. All drawings will be held at noon on Sunday. Annual Wedding Anniversary Celebration

PROVIDENCE —The Diocese of Providence invites couples celebrating wedding anniversaries of 25, 40, 50 or over 50 years to the annual Wedding Anniversary Celebration on Sunday, Oct. 22, at 1 p.m., in the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul. Bishop Richard G. Henning, will serve as the main celebrant and homilist. The celebration includes Holy Mass, renewal of wedding vows, a personalized certificate, and a reception for the celebrating couples and their families. St. Francis Xavier Academy Homecoming
WARWICK — St. Francis Xavier Academy Alumnae Association (SXA) Homecoming celebration will take place October 22, 2023, with 11 a.m. Mass at St. Timothy Church, followed immediately by lunch at the Crowne Plaza. The class of 1973 will be honored for the 50th Anniversary. Gold rosaries are blessed and distributed to graduates during Mass. Seminarian Dinner

WOONSOCKET — The Woonsocket Council #113 will host a pasta and meatball dinner on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 5 – 7 p.m., the Good Shepherd School gym, 1200 Mendon Road. Dinner consists of pasta, homemade meatballs, salad, garlic bread, dessert, coffee, tea and soda.  Children under 5 eat for free. Concert to benefit Food Pantry

LINCOLN — A Benefit Concert for the Northern Rhode Island Food Pantry with music by Diane Walsh and friends will take place on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2 p.m. All proceeds go to the pantry. The event will take place at St. Jude Church. If possible, please bring a canned good or non-perishable food item donation.
